Sugaberry’s Dynamic Duo, Tika Sumpter and Thai Randolph, Bring Something Sweet to #BlogHer20 Parenting

Giving women — and more specifically, mothers — everywhere representation and a sense of community is at the core of #BlogHer’s mission. Established by Tika Sumpter and Thai Randolph, Sugaberry is a lifestyle brand created by, for and about modern moms of color. Sugaberry celebrates every perspective of the brown moms through a curated collection of editorial content, forward-thinking programming, interviews, newsletters, live events, insightful product recommendations and more.

Their goal, which sits comfortably beside ours, is to serve as a daily “love letter” to black and brown moms. As quoted in their mission statement: “Whether you’re “kid-curious”, a mom of 5, a dedicated auntie, or a driven careerist who isn’t sure where (or if) motherhood fits into your journey, we’re here to inform, inspire and indulge YOU!”

Tika and Thai need no introduction — but here’s a few things you won’t read in their bios below. They’re warm. They’re sensitive. They’re family-oriented. They’ve taken the time to engage with their community and build something inspiring and homey — but also profitable. ABOUT TIKA SUMPTER

An accomplished actor and producer, Tika Sumpter currently stars on top-rated ABC comedy series MIXED-ISH as Alicia Johnson. Tika’s latest endeavor is Sugaberry, a lifestyle brand for moms of color she co-founded with Thai Randolph. She had the idea for Sugaberry after being frustrated with the lack of resources available for brown mamas during her own pregnancy. Tika and Thai also recently launched a new bi-weekly podcast called, The Suga.

Tika’s recent acting credits include: Paramount Pictures’ SONIC THE HEDGEHOG and OWN’s highest-rated series, THE HAVES AND HAVE NOTS, directed and produced by Tyler Perry. In 2016, Sumpter received critical praise for her “spot-on performance” (Todd McCarthy, The Hollywood Reporter) as a young Michelle Obama in Miramax’s feature film SOUTHSIDE WITH YOU, which Sumpter co-produced with John Legend. 

Tika is a mom to a three year old daughter, Ella Loren.
