Jameela Jamil Joins the Empowering Speaker Lineup at BlogHer Health

By Lauren Goveo
Welcome Jameela jamil
Jameela Jamil will join us at BlogHer Health to discuss the value of women and “I Weigh”, a movement that has changed the conversation on how women measure self-worth.
Earlier this year, Jameela Jamil took to Instagram to share how she values herself: through her successful career, her social media reach, and her commitment to women’s rights. The subsequent “I Weigh” movement that followed has inspired women and girls everywhere to re-evaluate how they weigh their self-worth. Today, we are excited to announce that Jameela will share her message with all of us on our main stage at BlogHer Health this January in Los Angeles.
Jameela currently stars on NBC’s popular series, The Good Place, opposite Kristen Bell. The show has won both an AFI Award and a Critics Choice Award and is currently in its third season. Jameela also regularly appears on Last Call with Carson Daly and soon will become the only woman of color hosting late night television on a TBS game show called The Misery Index.
Beyond her endeavors on the silver screen, Jameela is also making waves from her phone screen. After condemning an Instagram post estimating the weights of other women celebrities, she launched the “I Weigh” movement and social media platform. Jameela had been publicly campaigning for the value of women for nearly a decade by encouraging women to feel valuable beyond weight and outward appearance. Through this platform, she is challenging us all to “feel valuable and see how amazing we are” by providing a place where people can post photos of themselves along with descriptions of what they value in their lives. SheKnows Health Editor Elizabeth Yuko chatted with Jameela this summer to learn more about “I Weigh” and how Jameela is empowering women online.
Aligned with “I Weigh’s” mission to challenge the unattainable beauty standards set forth for women, Jameela most recently wrote an article for BBC News calling for a ban on airbrushing.
Jameela is eager to dive into these issues on the main stage at BlogHer Health and will discuss how she is championing women by asking them and others to place value on themselves beyond the unrealistic beauty standards that have been plaguing women for decades. Please welcome Jameela to BlogHer Health and purchase your pass today!
