Scandal Stars Bellamy Young and Katie Lowes Join #BlogHer20 Creators Summit

Join us in welcoming Bellamy Young and Katie Lowes to our biggest and baddest virtual event yet, #BlogHer20 Creators Summit! Bellamy and Katie recently wrapped their time on the history-making television show “Scandal,” written and directed by TV Goddess Shonda Rhimes. The show confronted its viewers with the realities of sexism and racism in American politics with each and every twist and turn, led by example in terms of creating complex female characters with interests outside of getting the guy, and ignited an international, die-hard fan base.
Bellamy Young is a Yale graduate and an Asheville, North Carolina native. Outside of her award-winning role as “President Mellie Grant” on “Scandal,” she’s a talented singer (her debut-album Far Away So Close was released in 2015), an activist, and philanthropist. She serves as the national spokesperson for The Humane Society’s “Shelter Pet Project”, working to promote animal adoption from shelters and rescue groups. She also served alongside Chelsea Clinton during Obama’s presidency as Ambassador for The Trust for The National Mall. She currently stars as Jessica on Fox’s Prodigal Son.
Katie Lowes is a force on stage and screen. She starred as Quinn Perkins’ on “Scandal” for seven seaons and made her Broadway debut in the Tony nominated Musical “Waitress.” She’s the creator and host of the fan-favorite podcast “Katie’s Crib,” a parenting podcast that covers everything a parent could ever need – and does it with empathy, humor, and an element of understanding. Her latest project, “Inventing Anna,” (which is also created by Shonda Rhimes!) is set to premiere on Netflix later this year.
We can’t wait to listen to these two powerhouses talk about how they found their professional and personal support systems, Scandal, and what’s next for them at our biggest virtual conference yet! Check out our other speakers, schedule, and register for free here. We’ll see you on June 26th!
