16 Black Female Creatives We Always Look Forward to Reading

Black women are pioneers in every sense of the word but especially as it pertains to the digital space. Though influencer culture has been rightfully critiqued for pay gaps, unfair traveling opportunities, and more between Black and white creatives, it doesn’t diminish the buying power and cultural importance of the former. History has taught us that Black women often dictate trends and develop innovative methods for teaching them. The natural hair YouTube community is just one of many examples (and admittedly, a personal favorite).
A reckoning of new proportions took place in 2020, inspiring all of us to align our calls for equity and inclusion with meaningful impact. Most of us know February is Black History Month, so while celebrating and amplifying the work of Black women is especially encouraged this month, we hope you’ll support these creatives year-round. Ahead, just some of the many SHE Media Partner Network members we encourage you to start learning from, especially if you’re new to the blogging space. (And in case you missed it, learn about our new Meaningful Marketplaces for underrepresented publishers and how you can get involved.)
This month, we’re hosting Winning Women, a weekly virtual celebration of groundbreaking Black female creators you know and love. Register for free admission.Â
