3 Healthy Habits I’m Stealing From LeAnn Rimes

When I sat down for LeAnn Rimes’s time on stage at #BlogHer20 Health, I didn’t know what to expect. I’m a long-time fan of her song Blue — and of course that amazing Coyote Ugly, “Can’t Fight the Moonlight” scene, so I knew whatever happened on stage, it would probably be fabulous. I figured she’d probably talk about her booming health and lifestyle blog, Soul of EverLe, maybe her very cool brand of hand poured candles, and HOPEFULLY her dog, Fleetwood (as a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, I can’t stress to you enough how much I appreciate that name choice.)
What I could not have expected, however, was how profoundly vulnerable and full of heart LeAnn’s time on stage would be. Her strength and sensibility were so inspiring to me – and an attest to how she’s remained a calm, cool, and lovely human being through so many years in the spotlight.

Joined on stage for her interview by Variety’s Audrey Cleo Yap, LeAnn openly discussed her relationship with her sense of self, and getting lost in her early years of fame. She spoke to her decision to check herself into treatment shortly after her 30th birthday, her struggles with depression, and how the practice of breath work has helped her reconnect with her sense of self – one that she lost along the way, but has since found again: “I got into breath work around seven years ago – (it is) the tool I found that’s created space in my body. It’s allowed me to feel things I’d never felt before. Finding it was like a Disney film – it was a Whole New World!”
The musician ended the night showcasing one of her many skillsets — she closed our health summit with a beautiful serenade. Her voice was so enchanting, it made even the balmy LA air delicious. It was undeniable that the audience had been moved to their core. The energy from our attendees was palpable and incredible. I want LeAnn Rimes to sing me to sleep every night!
LeAnn dropped many kernels of passion and wisdom — but a few really stuck with me. See below for the three healthy habits I’m stealing from LeAnn Rimes, and I suggest you take ‘em too!
“As much as we like to talk about what we can accomplish, there’s so much to accomplish in slowing down and accepting ourselves. ”
“My life is really busy so my biggest thing is taking my time when I post. I try to post quality things. not quantity,”
“We have to welcome in a softness and a tenderness to our own hearts – and that’s something as women that we’re forgetting that we possess this beautiful piece that’s so accessible. That I believe men have too, but not to the extent that we do. When we can grant that piece to ourselves and slow down, life changes. ”
We’re so grateful to LeAnn for joining us at #BlogHer20 Health — and for sharing her timeless, hard-earned wisdom with our audience. Thank you, LeAnn — keep doing what you do!
