3 Ways To Position Yourself As The Expert

by Jamie King of The Slay Coach
Positioning yourself as an expert helps you to increase traffic to your website, build your following and boost your income. Today’s market is filled with competition of all shapes and sizes, so being considered an expert is vital for your brand to really stand out.
Well I have good news for you — anyone can become an expert, it’s easier than you think!
Here are some of my favorite strategies to help you establish yourself as the expert that you really are:
Tip 1: embrace the humble brag
Everyone is afraid to brag about themselves, and I totally get it. No one wants to come off the wrong way, but what if I told you that bragging can be a good thing? What if bragging is no longer seen as shameful? What if we reposition it as inspiring? I mean, it totally should be!
Lifting each other up is important, but you are the only one who knows how far you’ve truly come.
Explain to your audience how you got there and share all of the struggles you went through to achieve those amazing accomplishments! It’s so important to portray yourself as authentic and relatable over b-o-r-i-n-g and obscure. People are more likely to trust and connect with those who are open about the adversity they have overcome on their journey to success. Your personal story is fundamental to your brand.
Add up a list of everything you’ve accomplished! From your past professions to that volunteer work that you forgot about, it matters. Trust me. Most of us think that if it’s not relatable then it doesn’t count…wrong! That’s experience, my friends, and it totally counts.
tip 2: gather testimonials!
Testimonials help to tell others that your product or service is not only legit but that it’s also working great for them.
No clients yet? No problem!
Have you helped a friend with their business? Ask them for a few words to share about how you may have helped. Consider offering to take on someone as a client at a free or reduced rate in exchange for a testimonial. This will not only outline your expertise but also help to build your own confidence in what you do! A little extra work never hurt anyone.
Finally, consider offering incentives! Create a special offer, limited-time discount, or giveaway for new clients — they want in? Ask them to write a short testimonial in exchange.
tip 3: Decide you’re a big deal now, not when you’ve “made it.”
You have to be brave enough to say, “Why not me?” Let’s be real, if the expert doesn’t trust in their own abilities, how can anyone else?
Build belief in yourself. Confidence is key, my dear. No one gets to decide your path except for you. Once you believe in your own abilities, your confidence shines through. Instead of having to pursue clients, you will start to attract them.
Don’t wait to be crowned, crown yourself! Waiting will never get you anywhere. There is never going to be the perfect time. Speak your future into existence right now and watch your success unfold. Who you are and where you are right now is good enough, I promise!
The truth is you were born ready, your fear just got in the way.

About Jamie King
Before becoming a serial entrepreneur and internationally known female leader, Jamie Joslin King worked with executive management, training and teaching them how to be leaders through Fortune 75 company Humana. At 24-years-old she managed over 500 trainees through leadership development until 2014. After that, she worked in network marketing where she made it to the top .5% of the company, and was able to replace her corporate salary. While working, she was traveling 20 weeks out of the year, and was pregnant with her second child. She couldn’t see herself traveling any longer and taking time away from her family to work, so she decided to chase her own success and she started the Slay Coach in 2017, a mission to help female entrepreneurs all over the world.
After just two years of business, Jamie’s empire as The Slay Coach has grown to include various successful online programs, personal coaching, inspiration speaking, and workshops, transforming thousands of women’s lives worldwide. She’s helped women scale their businesses to 7-figures online. Jamie has scaled The Slay Brands to a million dollar company, in just two years. She is also the founder of the not-for-profit group, Chardonnay & Slay, a safe space for women with bold dreams, positive vibes and big passion looking for help on their business journey. She is not your average business coach; she’s coached hundreds of women and helped million-dollar experts in industries such as events, pharmacy, hair and beauty, food services, marketing, sales, travel, and PR.
Jamie is very involved in the Louisville community, helping local small businesses scale and grow their brands.
