Twitter’s 2021 Marketing Calendar is Here—Remember These Dates

When it comes to content planning, experts typically recommend accounting for popular events. The holidays (Christmas, Halloween, Valentine’s Day, etc.) and award season are just two examples of when searches for gift ideas or randomly useful information spike. Last year, most content creators and entrepreneurs laughed at the idea of an events calendar since the pandemic upended or canceled nearly everything. But Twitter’s marketing calendar for 2021 is here to remind us that planning ahead is still a smart idea, even as we continue to navigate the unpredictability of current times.
Each year, the social media platform creates this calendar as a way to encourage Twitter users to create content (mainly, Tweets) that aligns with each event, many of which are likely to trend. Like a traditional annual calendar, this one is broken down by month. In chronological order, you’ll find a list of events broken down into four elements: date, opportunity (to create content on Twitter and beyond), type (of industry it applies to), and country (because this is a global calendar).
For example, some standout dates this month are Valentine’s Day on February 14 and the Golden Globe Awards on February 28.
Keep in mind that you can also check out the resources tab at the top of the page for more helpful guides, including small business resources, video resources, and plenty of downloadable materials, including the content planner. If you want to go all in, consider how you can incorporate content around these topics into a Revue newsletter, which was recently acquired by Twitter and can be used for free or paid, depending on your goals and audience reach.
