YouTube Creators Will Donate Their Ad Revenue From Black Lives Matter Videos — Here’s How to Contribute

Turn off your ad blocker and get ready to spend the rest of your day on YouTube! (You were going to do this anyway, right? Might as well be for a GREAT cause.)
We understand in today’s climate, with a large number of people being furloughed and laid-off due to COVID-19, not everyone has money to spare. We are also aware of the fear and anxiety still surrounding the virus, leaving some worried to march in solidarity. The good news is, there are other ways to show meaningful support without leaving your home or pulling out your wallet. And if you’re a social media queen, you’ll absolutely love this.
These YouTube creators have committed to donating to organizations that support Black Lives Matter for you, with the money they receive from their ad revenue. Through Google’s AdSense program, 100% of the ad revenue from the “commercials” in the video mentioned below will be given by the video creator to funding worthy organizations.
Amazing, right?
Here’s how you can take part:
-
Temporarily disable any browser ad blockers. Note, the same ads won’t play every time, so if you notice some ads not playing; that’s okay.
-
Do not skip the ads.
-
Refrain from pausing the videos.
-
Forgo watching the videos on repeat. Instead, watch an entire video, wait 10 minutes, then watch at least 3 to 5 other videos before starting the original video again.
-
Watch at a high quality of 480p or more.
-
Make sure your volume is set to more than 50%.
-
“Thumbs up” and comment on these videos.
-
Consider sharing the videos so the ads receive more eyeballs.
-
Ta-da! The creator of the video will receive revenue from the ads viewed, and donate that revenue on your behalf.
These creators have committed to donating to Black Lives Matter, the Brooklyn Community Bail Fund, the Minnesota Freedom Fund, George Floyd’s Family GoFundMe, Black Visions Collective, and numerous other efforts that can be seen in this Instagram post by Donté Colley.
