Get That Blue Check! How To Submit For Instagram Verification

In the beginning of (Instagram) time, it was extremely difficult and pretty confusing to figure out how to get the coveted blue verification check mark on your Instagram profile. It was rumored that if you continued to report accounts that were impersonating you, or “fake” accounts claiming to be you, Instagram would recognize you as a public figure, celebrity, or brand, and therefore, verify you. And that was just ONE potential scenario! Basically, if you didn’t have a contact at Instagram, you were doomed.
Thankfully, Instagram has implemented a process to receive a verification badge that anyone can try. I mean ANYONE, I’ve applied twice!
If you didn’t know, Instagrammers have been able to request for verification since August 2018. Requesting a verified badge on your profile won’t guarantee you’ll receive it, but it’s always worth a shot, as brands are more likely to partner with influencers who are verified.
To request your little blue check mark:
-
Make sure you’re logged into the Instagram account you’re requesting verification for. This account should be public and have a bio, profile photo, and at least one post. This can be any Instagram account including personal, business, or creators.
-
Go to your profile and tap the three horizontal lines in your right hand corner. I call it a hamburger menu!
-
A toolbar will appear where you should see “Archive”, “Insights”, “Your Account”, etc. On the VERY bottom, click “Settings”.
-
“Settings” > “Account” > “Request Verification”.
-
Instagram will ask you a few simple questions and request a photo of your ID.
-
Click “Send” and wait!
Instagram considers a number of different factors including your authenticity, uniqueness, and notability. Keep in mind, if you are rejected the first time you apply for verification, you can submit another request in 30 days.
